Hi, I'm new to the forum, but gained some great info before recently buying my 2007 SL 350, so thanks.

My SL needs some love and although low mileage for a 2007 at 40K, she's been mistreated a little and needs some TLC. One of the first areas to sort are multiple scratches to the chrome? door kickplates / sills - so a couple of quick questions;
- can these be easily replaced - how are they fitted / removed?
- assuming the above is expensive, is there a good way of refinishing these? I'm thinking about some polishing work or repainting in silver / black ??

Any guidance appreciated - thanks
Tim

i personally haven't had any experience on removing them myself. I think they are just glued onto the black plastic. The black plastic can be easily removed but removing the metal plate could be a different story. If you do attempt to remove them they could easily bend. If i was you go to mercedes and see if they can be bought separately at a reasonable price. If not i dont see why you coundnt sand them (very fine grade) and machine polish
