1979 R107 280 SL / Lotus Exige 420 / R231 facelift SL 63 WANTED
Hi everyone, new member here. I have a 1979 Mercedes 280 SL, it has been in the family since new and is a rare manual car. Lovely to drive. I have been very tempted by the R231 SL 63 which would be great to have alongside. I am looking for a facelift car, 2017/18/19 in white, silver or blue.

I looked at one at a dealer this week and left a deposit, however a HPI check subsequently showed some questionable history (which Autotrader did not show or the trade HPI check) so I cancelled the purchase. Would much prefer to buy privately where the history is known. Please message if you have anything suitable.

Based between Hertfordshire and Liverpool so am flexible with where in the country the car is.

Many Thanks, Charles

Still on the look out if anyone has a car they would like to sell.

Went to see a pearl white 2019 car at a dealer this morning, 14k miles. Pricing was relatively high for these and a few options weren't my first preference, so it had to be pretty spot on otherwise to go ahead. Would have preferred the different design of AMG alloy out of the two you see on these and with red calipers. Still, pearl white did look great and interior was immaculate as you would expect.

However, whilst being told about the extensive work that goes into vehicle prep....a walk around showed a more minor issue of an alloy needing refurbishing. More disappointing was the panel gap difference at the A pillar to bonnet and side panel - there was a notable difference from drivers to passenger side (A pillar and bonnet were just touching on drivers side). Salesman agreed with me and that it would need looking at. So much for 'extensive prep'....

So...still searching and would prefer a private purchase. Not having much luck with dealers on these so far (first one had the mileage adjusted back on the HPI check).
