Radio and Central Locking Problems

Hi, have a Merc C220 with some electrical problems which seem related. Have lost nearly all radio reception and central locking playing up. Both seem to go at the same time. We also had a recent ferry journey where the alarm went off for three hours, is this related?

Please help, reading other threads it seems expensive, but hoping not.

A C220 could be a W202, W203 or a W204 (at least). If it is a W203, I believe the likely reason is the antenna amplifier at the top of the rear window (roof side). You might be able to make it work temporarily if you push the roof panels up from the amplifier area.

Sorry, I'm a real novice, what are the W's?

W202 etc are the designation tha MB use.
The C class have evolved or the years and come in various shapes/designs.
The easiest way to find out which one you have is to say what year or letter your reg is

Radio and central locking problem

Hello my C200 CDI (55 Reg) developed exactly the same problem just 2 days ago. Took it to the local dealer who asked for £600 and VAT.
Sounds extortion.
