radio code

Hi there I have recently puchased a e220 which needed to have the radio code put in,I obtained the code from a merc dealer and tried to enter it several times.It went to wait which I cleared by leaving the ign switched in position 1 and after a couple of hours it then asked for the code again. I tried again but got same result.Am I doing something wrong. Can some body tell me the correct sequence for this operation. The car originally had a telephone fitted but this has been removed and the cable has just been cut off,is this anything to do with the problem?

Yes the cable has something to do with the problem. If it was cut off reconnect it, this will help reset the unit. If it does work, good for you but if it fails again then you must have the radio replaced by your dealer or have it repaired. Replacing would cost you much but worth it.

Hi there ,I haven,t got the phone or lead so cannot replace it.There must be some way of getting the radio to work without a phone connected.Can anybody help?

Sounds like you've got the wrong code tbh. The phone won't make a difference.
