I have a 03 W211 E320 cdi. Since new, it has had a recurring problem with the Audio 50/COMMAND system. When the car starts, after about 5 secs to sometimes 1 min, the radio suddenly crackles, cuts out, then comes back on after only a couple of seconds. This normally disconnects the phone, and it is sometimes really difficult to regain a connection. It has been into MB 5 times, but still no joy. They have now started charging for this repair, even though it is not fixing the problem. The last time they said a software update was what was required. £140 later, it is now worse, sometimes the radio does not get through the POST boot up, and sticks with just the MB sign. A real pest. Has anyone else had this problem, or even better, any suggestions about how to fix it?

Why on earth are they charging for it - go back, tell them it was reported under warranty and they have failed to fix it, and you *expect* them to repair it under warranty or goodwill, and to refind the £140 they charged you before ...

£140 for a software update - it takes little time (disk inserted, go away, + 30 minutes with star doing a download)

Be really firm, and tell them what you expect. If they dont play ball, start by writing to MB !!

Cheers
Richard
