Rally Fans - Tour of Mull

Are any rally fans amongst you making the annual pilgramage to the shrine known as Mull....?

For those of you who are thinking 'what is this nutter on about' - the Tour of Mull is a closed roads tarmac rally which takes place on the Isle of Mull.

It's not a british championship round, but it has been part of the National Championship before. It has it's own folklore as in recent years the winning cars have varied from a 'P' reg Mk2 Escort to a Scooby WRC. Car No 1 this year is another Mk2 followed by a Subaru WRC and an Evo so it should be a good weekend!

There's 28 of us going this year from a number of Motor Clubs to run stages 7, 9 and 15. We'll be staying up at Glengorm if anyone does know the island and if you're there then do say hello!

Bit of a co-incidence. I joined the forum this morning - but competed in the Tour of Mull 10 years ago in a Talbot Sunbeam. Fantastic event but absolutely terrifying.

Enjoy the trip, I still rememebr the stages - Hill Road, Torloisk Junction, Calgary Bay. The latter was thick in fog the year we drove it, the scariest 45 mins of my life.

Excellent article on the website Peter, and and to finish Mull on your first try is an achievement!

I'm Stage Commander for Calgary, and have been for a few years now. The long one on saturday night still makes me nervous and I'm not competing!

Funnily enough reading your rally exploits, I'm also Stage Commander at Longcross for the Craven Event there (I can see the place from my house!). I work doing radio and other jobs on the Tempest for friends in Craven MC. I remember the Artemis stages well, I now navigate in one of the course cars for that event which has become the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire and part of the BRC.

Oh and BTW good Golf! - I had three GTis and still lust after a good one
