Random clock time

Odd problem on the SLK. 2005 vintage with NTG1 Comand and Harman Kardon system. The clock is behaving totally randomly. When the car is started it displays any time but the correct one. After a few minutes the hands whir away and it resets to the correct time(usually). If you try and set it from the service menu which is where it is supposed to be set you can only adjust it in steps of 30 minutes from an already incorrect time. It is not related to the satellite or radio signal on this model. All other functions are fine. Battery appears well charged showing 13volts on a meter. Any ideas or thoughts as to what is going on? Its surprisingly irritating as it is.

A little more info. The time on the head unit is now correct. Turns out it does pick it up from the GPS. Don't know why it was wrong before. However when starting the car the dash clock resets to the correct time as per Comand but then stays there. Pulled the fuses and no change. I guess it will need a Star session but anyone any ideas?

Just a quick update. For the past 2 days all has gone back to normal. Cannot offer any explanation but hopefully it has healed itself!
