Hi all,

Two days ago I changed my front and rear brake discs and pads ( brembo ).

Now when I'm driving over any rough surface or over small pot holes and bumps I'm getting some funny noises coming from the front of the car, something like a rattle.

All this happen without me pressing the brake pedal.

Any advise ?

This sort of rattle often comes from the disc backing plate. But without having the brakes inspected it will be difficult to tell for sure.

I think that is a wrong video file, nothing to do with breaking sistem. ☺️

The noise is coming at speeds of 20/30 miles mostly on rough surfaces...

We're the lads oe or not? Some aftermarket pads are too small and rattle in carrier. Does the noise disappear when you apply the brakes?

The discs and pads are Brembo similar or OE, there is no noise on breaking just when driving along at certain speeds over rough surfaces.

Then I would think you have either left something loose or cheap pads are rattling in carrier. Seen this many times before.

I think what SMS was asking was if, while driving over a rough surface and the rattle is present, does it disappear if you lightly touch the brake pedal (and return once you release it)?

If so, it's almost certainly the pads rattling on the pins in the calipers.

Thanks, too busy fixing mercs to type out fully. :)

I have no idea of what is going on, took the car to a Mercedes specialist to fit the breaks, don't know what they did...
Today I took the car back to them to see what is going on and I left it for awhile, apparently is some ball joint or something going on, bit strange that I didn't hear any noise before new brakes was fitted on.

There are some replacement pads around Non MB that are slightly off the right size and can rattle occasionally as SMS was suggesting

The car just came back after two days at the garage ( Mercedes Specialist ).
After two days of investigation they couldn't find the source of the rattle, they replaced the Brembo pads with Mercedes OM pads without any luck.
I really don't know what else to do.

Any idea of what can it be ?
I will really appreciate some help.

After about three months of headache and stress I think that I'm getting something.
Yesterday while looking around the car I decided to push with my hands the plate behind the braking discs towards inside and it looks like the rattle has gone :)
I will give it a few more days and see :)
