I've noticed for a while a rattle coming from behind me in seemingly the area of the rear storage compartments behind the front seats. I am installing a KCE 425i ipod connector at the minute so have removed the rear panelling to access the TV tuner. (note - powered up the Alpine unit today to test very impressed by quality of sound and display on the command screen. Just need to route my wiring and decide whether to locate unit in place of the cd changer or in area beside it)

With the panels temporarily gone the rattle is much louder - sounds like a metal on metal springy rattle. Very noticeable on bumps etc. I've read up quite a bit on the issue with loose baffles in the fuel tank and am concerned this may be the cause!! Some comments suggested that if the fuel tank was full it would stop the noise. Duly I filled the girl up full for the first time on Friday.....causing me to shed a few tears as well  The noise is still there so wondering does this mean the noise in not fuel tank related.

Not sure where to go next - the noise is so easy to hear but difficult to locate maybe need to drop into dealer they may have some microphone gizmos to pinpoint sound.

Sorry can't help with the noise problem, but interested in your installation of KCE 425i. Is it correct that you cannot control the ipod from the Comand unit, and have to use the ipod controls?
Mel.

The iPod will be located in the rear storage compartment, connected to the KCE 425i. This will provide a charge to the IPod. The Alpine comes with a remote control and also a magic eye extender. To control the unit you switch the tv on comand to AV bringing up the alpine interface screen. The remote allows you to select artists, albums, playlists etc much like on the actual iPod but with a decent display. You can also use the remote to switch the iPod to manual so you control it directly on the iPod, the sound still coming through but nothing on the comand screen.

I haven't tested whether the alpine interface cuts out when the car is moving, I suspect it will do so I will try to source a harness to give me tv in motion. I spoke to Braybrooks and they code the tv in motion directly on to comand. If I can't get a separate harness I may get them to do this in July when the car should be in England. For me personally I would prefer to see the interface and change artists on the move.
