Had my first Merc for about 3 weeks now, 1999(T) E300TD, one owner, full Merc history, 44000m. Horrible rattle within first week diagnosed as Cat failure, replaced under warranty. Now has VERY annoying rattle /buzzing sound at 1500-2000 rpm (normal town speeds 
), sounds like a heat shield or a thin piece of metal somewhere. Its totally intrusive to the cabin but cant be heard when looking under the bonnet with the engine running, although the person in the car holding it at 1500rpm can hear it clearly.
Is there a common problem with this car? Can anyone tell me where I should be looking. I didnt expect this from Mercedes!
