i'm new here and i got this problem with my 190e 2 litre Auto. its a '91 model and i have had it 5 years.
The car seems to have developed a rattle at the front of the engine. I got a local mech to have a look at it, and he found something called the engine damper located just inside the alternator bracket was loose. He attached an extra washer to it and the rattle is considerably less now, although you can hear it just simmering under the surface.
This engine damper, does anyone know what the real name for it is, and how much i should expect to pay for a new installation of it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
