C class 230 K sport.
Hello all,
Can anybody help please. I drive a 1998 C230 K I have had no major problems in the 5 years I have owned it, till a week ago that is. A fault has developed that if I try to accelerate quickly or use the kickdown the engine behaves as if it has run out of fuel and dies, if I gently accelerate then all is well. I have taken it to for a diagnostic and they tell me that the fault is part No111080009 re curculation on gearbox, Can anybody offer any oppinion on this. as I am no expert, but it seems strange that the gearbox would affect the fuel supply.

Hopefully Jack.

Might be the problem Steve Perry has - throttle sensor or something I think. I'm sure he'll post soon.

Mine has an intermittent fault on the pedal value sensor, nothing to do with gearbox. To quote Star Diagnose: Fault P1542 - Pedal value sensor (B71).

Original thread: http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=3480&page=1&pp=15&highlight=pedal+sensor

I didn't know that the gearbox had parts dedicated to recirculation  *EDIT* Duh, that is actually a very stooooopid comment :o I did know that as the autobox oil has to be pumped round the engine radiator and back to the autobox.

Sounds similar to your problem G., could it be the Kompressor clutch is sticking or isn't there some sort of bypass flap that forms part of the Kompressor assembly?

ahhotpe, was there any more of a description to the faulty part? Gearbox recirculation could cover a multitude of parts, I'm afraid I can't look up MB part numbers.

111 08 00 09 is not a part number in my database. not enough numbers...111 080 00 09 isnt either..

i find it VERY odd that a 1960's 4 speed coupe (the 111 series) would have a part in common with your car - unless its a screw / bolt ;)

unless its an engine part (M111...) in which case im a bit confused as to what this has to do with the gearbox...

i have been through the epc and cant find any parts with 111 08xxxxxxx part numbers - can you check it? 111 09xxxx are bolts / brackets / bits of rubber... (part numbers are built up like this - the first three are the engine / car type first used on, the next three identify the area / use...)

Thanking all the members for ther replies, I think (No Know) I have been duped by the proverbial cowboy posing as an expert, On the basis of your answers I shall try and reclaim my money. Steve I feel you are in the right area as it is just like petrol starvation or a badly blocked air fillter. It seems that I will have to take it to the main dealer 35miles away in Sheffield and get robbed big time. O;well such is life.
Many Thanks
Jack
I will keep everyone informed

Hi
there is no recirculation on the gbox , from your description it sound like you need a new air mass meter (MAF sensor)

Hi piestore :D

Welcome to the forum :) I would tend to agree with you, my first line of advice is to check the MAS when people describe general loss of power. Dunno why I neglected to mention it in this case.
