Having just read the (Now locked!&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> Topic &quot;Job's worths&quot;, it was disappointing to see Koolvin &quot;Have a go&quot; at a Cop in a childish jibe, suggesting Dave Elcome was abusing his authority (And then doing it himself - I see Dave is now banned&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>.

Being a Cop is hard enough without having juvenile jibes form a forum supposedly dealing with an interest you have!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>
(It's not big and it's not clever <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'> )

Is this forum more inclined to Max Power (fine if that's you thing) or Joe Public enjoying their Benz of choice? (&quot;Run by the people for the people&quot;!!!&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

I find it interesting to see the variety of Benz drivers (and more than a little worrying to think I get to share the road with some of them <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> ). I'll respect your choice of Motor, whether I agree with your opinions or not.

Either way, having a go at Dave Elcome was a cheap shot, and I fear you have missed an opportunity (even if it was just &quot;get to know the enemy&quot;?&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I won't throw my teddy out, but surely Koolvin can do the decent thing and e-mail Dave with an explanation? <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/colgate.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':colgate:'>

<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>

FLIP: Talking about 'getting to know the enemy'

Dave walked up to another benz owner at a GTG whom had his bonnet open and said his car was missing a cylinder and then walked away...

Dunno about you but I think that was bang out of order, if it was a joke then why did he walk away after saying it?

(allegedly)  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Dave is free to read the forums but his profile is banned from posting, there is nothing stopping him to re-register and posting again.

He quit himself anyway and I only banned him afterwards, If he wants to come back to this forum then thats up to him but he must change his attitude a little bit.....

I agree I was out of line a bit and I'm sorry for that - &nbsp;I am man enough to say sorry.

The problem with forums and general Internet chat is that they can be so ambigious which is why you could add the emotions smilies...

what do you want me to do people of this forum?

Yup, read it!!

Other than &quot;rubbing people up the wrong way&quot; (so you don't agree with the guy - maybe he is influenced by dealing with fatal accidents one minute and motorist who think they are &quot;highly skilled drivers&quot; the next?).

I think banning Dave demonstates an attitude you appear to dislike in Traffic Cops!!!!!

Sorry folks, I think the guy who has to deal with the consequences of bad driving had more to offer - and if you could see through the &quot;attitude&quot; you might see where he was coming from.  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

As for &quot; Its a Traffic Police attitude&quot; I only hope that it is only the Traffic Plod you ever come in contact with?!! I mean, if you declare you are a burglar and then speak to a detective, don't expect to get too many niceties?! (Not that you are a billy burglar Koolvin, I am sure, but you see what I mean?).

I figure everyone has a point worth listening to, if you tell them their view is worthless YOU are the one to miss out. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/omg.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eek:mg:'>

I figure I might be a lone voice?!  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/slayer.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

But although I might not agree with WHAT you say, I think it is important that you have the freedom to say it.  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

You have editors right. I see similarities with a &quot;free&quot; press. I think you have abused your power. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'>

And I am easily amused by annimated bananas. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>

I applaude Koolvins decision.

Dave was slowly but surely pi55ing me off no end, with his attitude and Mr. Perfect posts.

Dave did himself no favours. The warnings of his attitude dislike, were friendly at first, but he took no advice.

The job's worth post, was so hypocritical is made me laugh.

I am no &quot;Max Power&quot; boy racer, nor a Police hating yob. Those who have met me may well back me up.

However, Dave excelled to the pinaccle of the stereo typical Traffic Cop image, that I have experience of so far.

It is a shame, but anyone who continues to annoy people will get a similar treatment as to Dave I expect.

V12 (I really hope you don't mind me using you as an example) posted in a few threads a while back, in a tone that upset a few people. It was pointed out, V12 took note and has continued to be a very well valued member.

I think this is a combination of an abrupt personality that does not translate well on a forum, in which you cannot feel someones character, along with the fact that this is a motoring genre forum and Dave is a traffic cop. From this background any comment made on this forum by Dave of a critical nature, is likely to be taken harshly.

The Forum threads provide the history, the explanations and the justification.

I cannot speak for Koolvin, but I am sure of this. If Dave was to contact Koolvin, justify why he came accross as he did and ask to re-register under a fresh start, I am sure there would be no problem.

If Dave and perhaps anyone else reads all of the related posts and sees no problem, then perhaps that is why it's best that Koolvin has pulled the plug.

JUST my opinion. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

He must change his attitude a bit?!!!!!!!

Only people with a similar attitude to Koolvin are welcome. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

&quot;Run by the people, for (some of) the people&quot; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/butbut.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':butbut:'>

I suspect most of the folks in here sit in their offices (ok, or Mercs...&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>, getting their driving experience from slogging the miles.

Dave gets his experince in a different way - doing the sort of thing everyday that most folks never see (or would want to). Cut the guy some slack <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Why should the view of a Traffic Cop be taken harshly?

<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':blush:'>

He gets to do the sort of thing most folks would love to be able to do (get trained, drive powerful cars quickly) and the things no-one wants to (deal with injured and dead). Is there any wonder the guy has a unique point of view?!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

So. You are an IT bod. Maybe you drive a desk. I'm interested in what anyone has to say, but when you see the next jam sandwich, just wonder what was his day like??? A tad less like &quot; The Office&quot; a tad more like &quot;Casualty&quot; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/colgate.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':colgate:'>

Flip.

I am beginning to see some of your arguments in Dave's favour  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>   <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>   <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

But you have written in a way, that Dave has never. You have looked at this from both angles and have not jumped on the defensive straight away.

Like, I said (I think we were both writing at the same time above) if Dave could have shared some of his experience (not the really bad stuff  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/exclamation.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':exla:'> ) and not just chipped in on a bad note in the odd thread, then I for one would probably enjoy reading what he has to say.

EDIT: I curse the Tax man when I see my payslip, does not mean I really think we should not pay tax - know what I mean Harry?

Graham, no probs, good example &nbsp; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Afraid i'm staying out of this one.

No matter what gets said, opinion will always be opinion. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

I made my comments on the previous post.

I'm a Network engineer, sometimes in the office, sometimes on the road, but I do 30k miles a year. - I could also certainly  be described as a network consultant!

I'm not the best driver in the world, probably far from the best driver on this forum - but I consider myself experienced and safe on the roads.

Now our police bretheren see the worst things that happen on a regular basis and possibly have a slightly different outlook on life because of it. Dave Elcome has always come across as abrupt - maybe thats just how he is - I dont know because I've never met the man. But a point of view is just that - his personal opinion - and every person here can take it or leave it as they see fit.

I love my SL - in fact I like most Mercs - but if I stood up and and stated that C class motors were a waste of space and good petrol <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> - people here would disagree with me - Probably very aggressively <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> . It doesnt make anybody right or wrong -its just an opinion of one man (tosser <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> ) on a forum! - you can agree, disagree, or just totally ignore me!

Lets see a few more smileys  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>  Because they are by far the best way to convey emotions on the net.

Lets try and have a forum where people can give or receive advice as they need. Where people get on and a GTG is a highlight on the calander!

Mark

Who really does like the C class !

Its takes alott for me to loose my rag and I normally dont bother with posting on rants like this, but I'm afraid this is really pissing me off now.....

I joined this forum to chat and gather advice from equally minded Mercedes Benz drivers whether your 17 or 107....I don't care...The amount of crap that has gone on in last few &quot;Jobs Worth&quot; posts is total crap.

This forum like many others is for the benefit of Benz drivers who can share experiences, problems etc and help each other out, not out flame each other every evening...............

OK, Sorry already.

I'll truce, if we can have some happy posts. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>

Having lurked on this board for some time, I feel compelled to add to this issue. I read Daves posts with interest; he gets a perspective on things that the majority of us will never get the opportunity to see. Ok, sometimes he may come across as abrupt, but there are several threads on the board that do that without any input from Dave, and I don't consider that Dave has ever been rude.

I don't understand why so many people felt it necessary to have a pop at the bloke based solely on what he does for a living. How would you feel if everytime you told someone that you were an IT consultant, they felt they had the right to have a free rein about how crap IT people are, and generally slag them off? Same applies for any other job. It seems that the minute someone says they're a copper, its Game On with the insults from many people. WHY??

I have to say Koolvin, that by replying to the end of Daves thread and then locking it comes across, to me at any rate, as being both childish and brattish, almost a case of &quot; Its MY teddy and I'M going to throw it&quot;.

And for the person who said that if Dave wants to justify his comments he can come back and re-register, two points. One, why should he justify himself? He has said what he thinks, its an open forum and is an opinion, if you don't like it then don't read it. Secondly, given the slagging and the treatment he has received from this board, why would he WANT to come back?

I may be in the minority of ONE on this board, being a woman AND a Merc enthusiast, but I would have hoped that minorities such as myself , and Traffic Policemen etc, would be welcome here. Guess I was wrong.

Welcome to the board Mrs Elcome <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Looking at the logs the IP address of Dave and M class are exactly the same.

anyway welcome to the forums, Mrs Turner.
