Hi forum. I had my W205 C220D remapped to C250 specs a few months ago and it brought a noticeable uplift in BHP as well as MPG.

Mercedes called me a week or so ago to say that my car needed an ECU update. I'm wondering though whether they've got wind of the remap via SIM and if so, are they likely to undo the remap to standard without telling me?

It’s probably the recall for all diesels affected by the emissions “scandal”, so I wouldn’t worry. It may overwrite your remap though.

Really? Would they really overwrite MY remap that I paid for?
If it’s what I referred to previously then Mercedes are obliged to do so and ask that their dealers to perform the update on their behalf. If the dealer asked that you take it for an ECU update, and you take it for the ECU update - and sign the paperwork consenting to them updating your ECU - then they could - and probably would - overwrite the software that’s already stored in the ECU.

They wouldn’t necessarily know that you’re had remapped the ECU. Advise them that the ECU has been remapped and ask that they do do not overwrite it, and see what they say - you could then choose not to take it in. If the worst happens then many credible tuners will do it again at no cost or at a reduced cost, as they know it my get overwritten unintentionally.

Thanks that's great. I think I'll get in touch with the people who remapped it first.
