Are these possible?

Had my S211 remapped a while back but had to bring it back three times because it kept going into limp home. The upshot was that it was retuned to the extent that while I notice the extra torque between 50-70mph, below that it feels even vaguer than it did on the original MB mapping. Fuel economy has improved dramatically (at least according to the trip computer). But I really would like it to feel a bit puncher when driving in town. It felt great when I first took it out from the tuner's but wasn't anywhere near as good when they dealt with the gremlins that were causing it to enter limp.

I am thinking about taking it to a more reliable outfit for another remap to see what they can do, but I don't even know if this is possible, or whether it might lead to a raft of complications - or indeed money down the drain.

Any thoughts?

The fuel economy on the trip computer is working from data from the original fuel maps, it does not have a clue how much fuel is now being used.
I've yet to see one scientifically proven test where a remap has given more MPG despite the all the remappers hype.

I understand it's probably not as much as the trip says (55 mpg v 41 on a 2 hr motorway journey up the M1 which I do regularly). Haven't done my own pump-to-pump calculation as yet, but there is definitely a saving of some sort as I'm not filling up as regularly and notice that the gauge is only down 2-3 bars now on this journey whereas before it usually went down 4 bars.

Your car can be remapped again by any reputable tuner, the "map" is just an adjusted set tables.

Cheers - and would it be possible to restore the original MB map at some point if I wanted to do so, or would I need to go to MB for that or the guy who first tuned it for me?

you can carry out your own test from fill up to fill up. l have 2 vehciles that are mapped and as long as you keep the rpm down so turbo is not spinning you will ( well l achieve 1.5 to 1.8 litre saving per 100km ) yeah you pretty much have to drive like a granny. The truth is we map for extra hp and nm. and the results are about the same from factory .with extra zoom

the person who originally mapped your car should have saved the MB map, otherwise the dealer can reflash your original map

I'm sure someone was doing remaps with 3 seperate maps, original, economy & power maps which could be changed with a switch fitted inside the car at any time, cant remember who it was though.

Sounds awesome :bannana:

Just wondering whether it is worth forking out again though since it is risk that there won't be any difference. The one thing the tuner did say was that he couldn't find the fuse for the ABS which apparently meant he couldn't tune it to the max for some reason. Still had to go back to him three times though!
