Hello all,

Is it possible to read the ECU codes on a 97 W140.

I already have a generic VAGCOM OBDII cable for use with my Alfa Romeo.

Is there an internal OBD / EOBD port for connecting to? Or is it possible to make the codes flash out on the LCD dash like in some cars?

Ive also read its possible to somehow interrogate the A/C unit, as mine is not blowing ice cold id like to connect up to it and see what the diag says.

Thanks.

The only system worth using on your car is a star. You have a 32 pin connector under the bonnet for diag.

Mercs in the States will have an OBD2 type connector in standard position under the dash. However most markets will have a 38 pin [ 38pins- 32 active] round plug---- pin 1 chassis ground pin 2 ignition switched 12v pin3 12v battery pin 16 is aircon

try this link for fault codes and all the pins http://www.diakom.ru/CARS2/pribor/cs1000/manual/cs1000_mb.pdf

this refers to the location

K6JRF Auto Page

ps dismayed to find K6JRF's W140 pages are no more except on the wayback machine :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Thanks for that - seems like no 'easy' at home solution is available, which is a shame.
