Hi there,

Maybe someone here can help me in understanding how often it is normal to hear the air pump on a W212 Estate.

In the past I don't remember even hearing it but after the last service 29k miles, I don't know why but I hear the pump. I hear it sometimes in the morning and then sometime again during the day.

I'm not loading the car as if doing that I would understand the pump adjusting the ride height.

It goes for about 5 seconds or so.

I leave the car parked during the night on a slight inclined drive and during the day at work it sits perfectly horizontal.

Maybe it's just me (hearing got better?LOL)

I must say that I can only hear it if the radio is OFF and have no one in the car making any noises.

Engine is a E350 CDi

If the compressor is running for longer, this may indicate that its compensating for a small leak. I would monitor the pumps runtime to see if it increases over time or increases if the car is left stationary for longer periods.

hi and thanks for your reply. Yes I would expect so that why I'm asking if hearing the pump for that short time twice a day is normal?
