E320 Elegance
Hi,

I am new to the forum andwould like to ask a question regarding my newly acquired 75,000 mile 1997 E320 Elegance. The only fault I can find so far is that the rear headrests will flip down when switch pressed but not up! Anyone any ideas why and what the fix may be?

Many thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum. The switch is only to drop them :)

3rd ed - only the S class of that era had the button to raise and lower I believe.

Stupid feature isn't it.

I thought that but then I learnt that it isn't really a bad idea at all. If someone is sitting in the back then it's easy for them to raise the headrest, it pulls into place very easily.

If however, after they've gone they leave it up sod's law dictates that the first time you'll notice is when you're backing into a tight parking space and it's obscuring your view. Then, being able to drop them again from your seat seems like a pretty good idea.

Good idea on the CLK 'cos it's a coupe and rear visibality is not so good. But saying that I have parktronic so reversing is easy!

thanks everyone, realised it soon after posting duh!! bit of a waste of a switch though.........
