MB CS has advised me that a 2020/21 e220D Estate cannot be retrofitted with a towbar if it has "rear axle carrier bars fitted as optional equipment". Otherwise it's OK to retrofit one and it won't impact the warranty.
Can anyone advise as to the circumstances in which these bars would be fitted? What are they and what would their purpose be? They don't appear in the online build spec process.
