Mercedes c class 220cdi
Hi, I a new to the forum. I am wondering if anybody knows where I can buy rear brake plates for my 2004 plate c class 220cdi elegance. The old ones have corroded and the spring has come out causing a squealing noise. I have searched online but I don't know the part number. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine went last year. I think you will need to get them from Mercedes, along with new hubs as you need to seperate them to fit the new backing plates. Expensive job I'm afraid.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the reply, I thought I might have to go to mercedes to get them but I was hoping I didn't . Anybody got an idea of approximate cost?

I can't remember exactly, but £440 is stuck in my head for some reason. (New plates/hubs & all labour)

Ouch! Thanks again for the reply Russ. I think I will have to bite the bullet and phone Mercedes. I will post again if I get a price.
Cheers.

Brake back plates

I replaced my rear brake back plates on my old W202 a few years ago. I removed the complete hubs and the mechanic at my work pressed the inner hub out to change the back plate. The bearing came apart but was pressed back together after greasing. The car smoothly despite that!

Thanks for the replies, went and phoned mercedes and got 2 new back plates for £70. Got a mechanic going to do the work next weekend and he is going to put 2new bearings in. Will update next week on outcome and cost.
