Hello ladies and gent's.

Last week while I was leaving the British Legion close to where I live and one of the other members reversed into the back of my car! for the past week his son-in-law who is a vehicle body specialist was supposed to have been Last Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then this evening to have a look and asses the damage. I have already been 3 vehicle repair specialists and the all said the same thing, the bumper pad needs to be replaced. The is no other damage to the cars structure or to the skeleton of the bumper. The guy had a look at it this evening and his advice to his father-in-law was "Just pay for his repair's, I don't want to do it" So I have looked everywhere for a pad/rail part no. A2028850121. I did see one on ebay but it looks as if it's been removed? I have arranged to get quotes for the parts and for the paint and labour and he is going to pay me out of his pocket.

Anyone know where I would get a genuine part (rail/Pad)?

Thanks

John

why not just go and get the new part from a dealer and then bill him..... ?

Sounds like the kind of part a breakers yard would have. Naturally get the part off a car that's had a front end crash! If the metal bumper beam has been bent then that will need replacing too, as it's dangerous to simple bend it back to position.

£210 + VAT! The guys a pensioner, I can't hit him with a £280 bill.

That's some mark-up as it was most likely sold to MB for £10-£20 by the Tier 1.

edit: that's the price for the steel armature and foam, not the bumper fascia

looks like Nick will sort you out. But call me harsh, but he hit your car - if thats what it costs to fix it then thats what he is insured for. i do understand the predicament though if he is a personal friend.

It is in deed a strange predicament! I don't really want to go into too much detail, but he helped out a friend of mine a year or so ago and I feel I owe him?

fair enough. i know what you mean. i rear ended my brother's car a few years back :D :o and luckly we managed to buff most of the damage out but he did have to live with minor scratches on his rear bumper.... i was a student and couldnt really afford to pay for repairs and was not worth claiming on the insurance.

My old C180 Is at a point where the insurance company will write it off due to the damage/cost of repair! So doing it this way helps me out too!:)
