Rear camera install - mods

Guys

If i get these 2 items, can i get rear camera functionality on my cl55? also could I put a mp3 player or such onto it ? Really need one of these.

Command 2.0 I believe is on 2003 CL55, CD based wide screen.

I'm guessing it would hook up to the reverse light for power.. Would probably need to go onto star to activate it on the command screen automatically when you select reverse

Is this a difficult job to do? on a scale of say 1-10 ?!

I dont have a star system, out of interest is there anyone here in or around Southampton with such a piece of kit?

looks like no one else has any clue about these but I really need a reverse camera, serious congestion in hampshire and the CL55 is not exactly a small car.

mp3 player is doable with a ipod kit and bluetooth reciever.

rear camara also if you have a tv module fitted, you can put on your Aux input.

rear parking sensors are normally enough tho.

Is there RGB / AUX on this Comand? My understanding is I need the Video modulator box to provide for these and use the scart like interface to connect to the back of the navi unit.

Then just connect rear cameras or any outer source to the box.

MB specialist going to get these installed during the week, the CL55 has been at the garage a few weeks. New Engine mounts were put on (£400 or so I was told by seller), he said he is going to make sure everything is in order before I get hold of it.

Keylink SAS in winchester are doing it, the dealer works with this company. They are MB and VAG specialists.

One think I missed out was getting some RCA to 3.5" adapter like this

I am sure i need one of these also. I can post this onto the garage ahead of install.

Question - how do you switch over to AUX on the command unit? when you play external sources how will it switch over and can the control on steering wheel be used etc?

Not sure if its much different but I fitted a reversing camera to my C63 last week, scale of 1-10 for difficulty - 2, very simple! Camera cost me about £14.00 and the FAKRA cable to fit on the Comand unit was £7.00. Great picture, automatically flicks on when putting into reverse etc....

Can you provide a link to the camera and cable that you used for your c63 please. My car is a facelift, does this make any difference?

licence place camera wont fit as they cant get the video cable through the boot into the cabin, MB have not made it easy.

I have this outcome, asked can they colour code it, that video box works fine also have 3.5" Aux socket in glove box.
