OK, so I got a mate to put my rear fog switch on whilst I look at the back of my facelift 202, and nothing happens! Something blown or something?

Pulled it two... The fronts are fine on click one, and the LED comes on when you pull it out again for the rears, but no lights at the back...

?!

Have you checked the bulbs ?

Ooops - just went out to the car to try different combinations of ignition on/off etc. and found that one of mine isn't working either !

Off to Hellfrauds tomorrow .......

Sure I read a post somwhere saying that although there is space for 2 Fogs on the rear they only have one light on one side dependant on if you car is left or right hand drive. Hence leaving a space for a light on either side.

Your're right mate - just been to look !!

space for a bulb but no contacts - you've just saved me 99p - have a narna and a rep point !! :bannana:

I altered mine so that I have two rear fogs.

I really hate it when people have two fogs... it disguises whether or not they have brake lights on and is IMO dangerous.

Yeah thats why I rembered what I would because of It giving the appearance that the brake lights are on.

I think the rear fog on the W202's is a dual filament bulb (4W/21W) so you actually require both bulbs to be present for the correct tail light illumination  Even though one of the bulbs will never use the 21W filament. The single tail light next door is 5W.

Sad but true.

Sp!ke just checked my Jeep and its got fogs both sides as standard. Would this be considered dangerous?

I think so, don't you?

Two foglights are dazzling and look too much like brake lights, I think manufacturers have realised this and most cars now have a single foglight fitted.

I would hate to have someone rear-end my car because they couldn't tell the difference between brakelights and foglights. A single light is better. IMHO we could do without foglamps altogether!

I only ever really use mine to p*** off the 'garys' who insist on driving up behind me with their front fogs on even when its not foggy because max power insist it makes them look cool.

I can dip my mirror to get away from their front foglight glare but they have to sit there in my bright red glow ...

childish, i know , but thats just me ....... :o

I think haveing 2 really just depends on the location if there say in the bumper for example it make them easily ditinguishable from the brakelight. Where as on Mercedes the fogs form part of the main light cluster it can lead to more of a deceptive look.

Although having said that Why would it look dangerous for having 2 fogs. Surely giving the impression you are brakeing would stop people from driving up your rear end.

why would they rear-end your car ?

whether or not your brake lights are on - if they think that they are then they will slow down. maybe they don't need to slow down because it's your fogs, but i would rather they slow down than they speed up.

if you brake because someone in front of you puts on their fogs and then someone goes into the back of you - then you were both driving too close to the car in front with the un-necessary fogs.

does this make sense - there cannot be a problem with increased visibility and moderate speed. can there ?

cheers

sebastian.

I think youre missing the point, if you are a following a car in the fog, at a sensible distance, if that car has two fog lights illuminated it could make the brake lights less visible when the brakes are apllied. Nothing to do with tailgating!!

Don't see how they could rear end you if they thought they were brake lights ..... if they were slowing down, and you were maintaining the same speed, there would be little chance of a collision !

My BMW has two, FWIW !
