Rear Lamps Blowing

What is required to stop the rear lamps blowing?
Every so often I have a blown bulb and the car tells me it has gone to back up lighting. First one side goes and the following day the other side goes **** up.
Bulbs last about 6 months

You need the adapter cable

The cable has a resistor built in to lower the voltage by 1volt, on later cars its built in.

You just unplug the rear lamp lead and put the adapter cable in series

I'm curious to dismount the rear lamp assembly to see if mine is factory equipped with this!

Mine is a 2003 car, so not the newer

As there are 6 different 203 220cdi cars I just chose one in the middle. I could do a more refined search but it takes time.

Just put up the 6 numbers WDB203??? and I will do it all at once.

There is a similar mod for the 211 and the 220 I believe

OK I have been to them all the 006,008,206,208706 and 708

When looking at the first one the 006 it says, it says later cars have it built in, so I go to the latest, the 708 and it says the same thing. The wording is unclear as to what cars have the mod.

The only guaranteed way is to measure the voltage on the lamps with the engine running, if the you have 13.8volts on the rear lamps, then you do not have the mod, they should have be least 1 volt under the running voltage.

This can affect any 203 irrespective of the engine fitted

The facelift models use different bulbs and updated SAM (fuse box). I changed all these parts on my car and there has been no sign of any problems. I also installed the matching rear harness.
