My mechanic claims that the Mercedes C class rear right sub frame is in short supply. They can/t get it from any dealer in the UK and have now trying in Germany
He claims it may take a 'good few days'
I did a search and could find rear sub frames on ebay for 470 quid
Is this something I could consider as an option?
Please do advise
Kind Regards

I can't imagine it's an item held in stock, so would have to come from Germany anyway.

I have seen it on ebay for 470£, dealer seems pretty well reviewed
Is this something I could go in for?
Regards

I

How much is it via your mechanic/dealer?
Is the ebay item genuine and new, or reconditioned/reclaimed?

My mechanic didn't give me a breakdown of the costs, except that it would cost 1 grand for the job!
On ebay it looks new , old as new and costs 470

£470 on eBay, don’t know how much a genuine MB part costs? This could be a genuine part, could be a reputable pattern part, could be a cheap copy fabricated with sub-standard material and dodgy amateur welding - bashed out in a shed somewhere, how will you find out? The fact that the company selling them has decent reviews is completely irrelevant because these sub-frames probably fit and work when they are new, by the time any quality issue comes to light the car has probably been sold, crashed, written off or broken for spares. The reviews are largely based on the delivery speed and price, who ever puts a review up that says “I bought a subframe off this company six years ago and recently examined it carefully for corrosion and signs of degradation - it was a.o.k.”
But this is a structural component - do you really want to take a risk for the sake of a few quid?

TRY THESE GUYS? dont know if they are breakers/repairers/remanufacturers - but maybe worth a phone call?

Sorry it meant, it looks new, not old

You could try asking Dronfields; they're a specialist breaker with a good reputation to maintain.

Spelling mistakes on that website make me suspicious. Just smells funny for some reason.

Has the OP tried mercedes for corrosion warranty and free replacement? All the customers I’ve sent in, and have not had one refused
