Rear Spoiler for CLS

Hey all,

Thinking of putting an AMG spoiler on the rear of my CLS 500.

So two questions:

1 - Is this the right part no : A 219 790 0188
2 - Do you think I should do it ?

I'll need to get the part painted to match the body, but otherwise I think it's quite a nice thing to put on the car.

I think they look better with. Personal opinion though. Needs 19" rims too. CLS is such a great looking car and wears sporty bits well.

As above love the sleek lines of a CLS, never been in one and at 6ft 2 the back looks very low but great looking cars...

So pimp your CLS with a spoiler and 19" AMG's

Personally I think a spoiler would look great. I say go for it !!

I think fuel economy and getting general American acceptence that Deisel is the way forward you'll start getting this type of car...

Yes, its an MB part (not a naff barryboy thing) so the car will still look the part.

I know I'm still in a minority (probably of one!) but my first question would be 'does it work?' not 'does my bum look big in this?'
Find out some figues, does it reduce lift? Does it reduce drag?
I have put some silly wheels on my 'old mans' S class, but it was for traction not looks. The way it looks is not my priority, but having said that, the number of positive comments are overwhelming from those who have seen it

You are right.

According to MB it does have a small effect on the car, but it's only at reasonably fast speeds.

IT's more about looks tbh....

The 2 inch lip spoiler has very little down force unless the velocity is greater than 75 mph ... so it is basically just for looks.

The presents of a spoiler conveys the impression that the car is so fast that without the spoiler, the car could not stay on the road!

That's why you see a lot of commuter powered cars with spoilers... to give it that extra Pizazz !!!

I dont know about lip spoilers (cuz they're so tiny!)but when i had a rear spoiler on my 202 (had a 1inch gap or less)it definately kept the backside down, felt it now since its come off. I definately think it will look good though, so 'yes' vote from me.

the CLS spoiler is quite subtle .. and not chav at all.

Just look at any AMG

Well thanks all. Gonna get a quote now to see how much the part is, and cost to get it painted. Then if it's all acceptable I'll put it on, and post a pic.

I am considering putting the E63 AMG spoiler on my E500, which has the full AMG bodykit. As has been previously mentioned, the AMG spoilers are really subtle and look great.
