HI all,

I've just had my rear subframe of my 2014 E63 estate checked out by Epsom MB. I did this as my MB specialist (SS Motors) recommended them following my MOT where corrosion was written down as an advisory. MB Epsom are replacing the subframe free of charge under goodwill, which I'm super chuffed at. They have booked me in as have the parts available.

The question here is the additional bits to replace while the frame is out. I've heard about new bolts, brake line replacement and bushes. Has anyone done all of those or just get MB to replace the sub frame..?? Would they replace the bushes with normal or leave in the old ones..? Has anyone put in poly bushes to tighten things up even more? Was ride comfort affected by those??

Thanks,

STAN

Good result getting the sub frame replaced FOC.
A real shame a 10 yr old car needs this.
You may find upon dismantling, the dealer finds worn items that you'll probably be asked whether you want replacing "while they are in there "
I doubt Mercedes would fit anything other than OE parts on reassembly.
Glad you are enjoying your E63. Loved mine and still miss it.

If the air springs are original I’d be tempted to replace them at 10 years old - they won’t have long left :)

Thanks man, yeah I think I'll wait to see what they find and agree they most likely wouldn't fit OE parts..

Got my subframe replaced FOC in November 2023. Asked the service fella what else would be changed and he said "Approx. £200 worth of bushes and bolts would be renewed also" so I assume they changed them all?

Had the car MOT'd in December 2023 and they told me that everything looked fresh and new underneath. I had the rear brake lines changed previously in 2022 so they didn't need done.

They carried out a 4 wheel alignment on the day I got the car back. Zero paperwork on handover though.... hush hush

Had my W212 2012 serviced @Alex Crow on Monday - the subframe is looking good. I kind of wish it wasn't as I would prefer to get it replaced before I sell it! Especially now the car is on 208K!
What I did not expect was an oil cooler leak - again!

What mileages and age have these 2 oil cooler leaks been at buddy ? (I get the recent one is now at 208k )

Thanks guys, I've had the brake lines inspected and only minor corrosion, but £ 1,700 to replace, so have not gone down that route. New bushes and bolts will be done with the subframe so all good ther. I cant wait to feel the difference when I get her back..would make sense to put on some corrosion coating compound..thoughts..??

Anti corrosion coating can't hurt, but MB subframes rot from the inside out...and £1700 for brake lines ??
