In that case, ignore my request for pics 🤣🤣🤣
The Focus has probably got more tech than my Merc. It can park itself, which my W211 can't do. Granted, the driver of the W211 is capable of parking, whereas the Focus driver isn't!😉🤣

This has just arrived. Can anyone guess what it is? It looks happy regardless!C493262F-1AE6-4E24-80C7-B0398E00AAC2.jpeg

Good guesses. Londonscottish closest so far but needs to go a bit further forward and down a little. If you saw a side view you'd know immediately. I'll give you a clue - it's quite heavy, and purposefully so!

Engine mount?

I'm worried as my airsprings look like they're made from the exact same material as one of those shitty footpumps you buy in the Med to pump up inflatables for the pool.

Closer, but i'll put you out of your misery! It's actually the crankshaft pully for my Alfa. The original one is formed of two parts with a rubber section in between to absorb some shock i guess. But of course the rubber perishes which could cause a catastrophic failure. OE or pattern ones are no longer made but luckily there are a couple of specialists that have started to make some, albeit without the rubber section.

That's just the dust cover, but agree they don't inspire much confidence! However, if it's any consolation when i looked at mine it looked no different to the Merc part. I've got one new Merc one (replaced under warranty) and one Arnott one on mine. Can't tell the difference at all.

Thanks that's good to know.

Which GTV have you got again?

It’s a 916 3 litre V6. Year 2000. I love it, it’s old enough to not have loads of electronic aids etc (it has abs and that’s it!) but modern enough to avoid (mostly) corrosion issues. I don’t have the stomach for anything rusty these days! Mine has a few tweaks; Quaife diff, Alfaholics/Autodelta exhaust and sports cat, CDA induction, Koni adjustables, and all new paint. Later this year it will be getting a clutch from a GTA and a lightened single mass flywheel plus all new brake lines. Good ones are getting quite rare now. I would love a 105 GTV circa 1972 but values are spiralling now!

2.5Kg of 40 day air dried Beef rib 🥩👍👍😁

Yes, I've always lusted after a 105. It's one of the cars in my fantasy retirement garage. But, yes, they are getting very expensive now.
Then there are several variations on the Merc V8 theme.

Or maybe something with a Busso.........mmmmmmm. Yours sounds fantastic.

Thanks to Chrishazle's recommendation I've just ordered some of this which is going to make me really happy.

My drive was utterly filthy and the joints were full of all sorts of crap not least because jet washing clean also removes all the sand from the joints. So it becomes a once-a-year thing.

Now I've sealed it and will soon have solid joints, I'll be able to wash my cars and then clean down the drive periodically.

That is a harmonic damper and its purpose is to damp torsional vibrations present in the crankshaft that would if left undamped eventually break the crankshaft.

One of those jobs on my Round Toit list. What did you use to seal the blocks?
