Hi all, recently purchased a c220cdi. And now perhaps in the wrong order I'm coming on here to see if there are any things I should look out for that may be wrong with the car or need addressing. It has done 67k miles.

Understand the rear subframe is a potential issue, I plan on taking it for a service at an indy mercedes specialist soon to check it. I there has been some luck with Mercedes replacing them free of charge, how would I go about making that happen? I'm north east Lincolnshire if that makes a difference as to where would be best to go.

Many thanks in advance.

Whilst it is a known problem it is more likely to be OK than not so I would not be overly concerned. If the inspection shows that it does need attention then the starting point is to book it in for inspection at your local MB dealer......or depending on where you bought it ask the seller to arrange to have it replaced.

Great thanks. Looking online last night was getting very worried that it's almost everyone that has the issue.

I'll get it booked in for a service and hopefully have some peace of mind.

The previous owner had some services carried out at garages which didn't update the online service info. I have the paperwork for it, would it be possible for a garage with access to add it for me? Or is that out of the question?

Watch out for what's usually called Black Death. Combustion gasses can leak past the injectors and if left untreated can cause hard black deposits around the injectors which can be a real pain to remove. The cure is new sealing washers and retaining bolts correctly fitted. Early warning signs include a chuffing noise from the engine or an exhaust smell in the cabin. Otherwise they're decent and reliable engines. Apart from thermostats which can fail. Check it gets up to 90 degrees and stays there.

Excellent thanks for the information. All very much appreciated. Temps look to hold and engine bay is pretty tidy but will keep an eye out.

Apologies I assume these questions have all been asked before.
Is there any sort of idiots guide/resource, or is searching the only way?

So far I have found the MB specialist finder and have found one in Brigg which I have seen mentioned as being good.
