Recoding key

    Can the keys be reprogrammed so any other spare keys do not work, as i only recieved one key for my car

    Yes, just get the other ones coded out by someone who makes keys for the car.

    No once a key will operate a vehicle I guess it always will. I am not even sure that they still needed to be coded to the vehicle. When we needed a new key I put it to the MB dealer who said that for some time it was simply plug in the key and there was a "handshake" between it and the vehicle.

    This is not true, the key would have been programmed by MB in Germany specifically for the car, the "handshake" is the final part of the process.

    Also, previous keys (I believe up to 8 may be programmed?) can be deleted from the ECU /EIS memory in case of theft / loss etc.
