That Halfords set for £80 is a serious bargain and you should get it before the price goes back up. The only thing you'll likely need at some point is a few hefty 1/2 breaker bars.
In the last 12 months I've spent way too much money on Wera, Wiha, NWS, Gedore, Hazet and Stahlwille tools and yet my very old £25 3/8 halfords socket set (not even from the professional range) still soldiers on and does most jobs just fine.
The major plus for the halford tools is the walk in warranty. I bought some locking extenstions and the locking mech on one of them broke. There was no fuss, just a straight replacement and I didn't even have the receipt. Even on a Sunday. Far easier than getting a warranty exchange from you're local snap on van.
