Background: Had car (w204 c220 didn't 2010) serviced by ClickMechanic. The mechanic told me he was ex-Mercedes and he is local so I've been using him for work but he doesnt have Star/Xentry.

EML came on, took it to an Indy with Xentry. Faults on dpf, teach-in cylinder 2, quantity control valve. They tested the cylinders and said they are fine, the dpf is blocked as a result of no regen while eml, and they didn't think any real issue with QCV. Would need further investigation for an indefinite amount of time, minimum 6 hours.

Went back to local mechanic who replaced dpf, as well as took part engine and cleaned components of carbon. Changed a couple valves and pipes that were too gummed up, fuel filter etc.

Was driving perfect for a couple days then eml light back. Teach in cylinder 2 and low fuel pressure. Local mechanic cant work out what's wrong. Admitted hes not ex-merc.

Now I'm trying to work out the best thing to do. The first indy already said they didn't know what was wrong and would need to investigate. Is it worth going back to them? Should I bite the bullet and pay Merc £160 to diagnose? I feel like they can only get the same results as the indy so will say the same thing.
Anyone know a good indy for injectors/fuel system?
Maybe just time to get rid of the car?

Short version as I couldn't edit:

Indys want to investigate. Even after Xentry scan they dont know what's wrong. Find a better indy? Go to Dealership? Forget the headache and get rid of car?

I would take it to an inde who you know they know what they are doing.

What part of London are you?

There is Wayne Gates in North West London (I've never used them but I hear nothing but glowing reports for them so I would...) and I use a place called Wright Tech in South East London.

I would personally base scrapping the car or not on the cost to repair it once you know exactly what needs doing!

I'm based south east london. I saw some good reviews about the Wright but the last one I read said they had a horrible experience and the car is worse so it kinda put me off. I'll give them a try though, thanks.

Understandable and you have to be happy with using the outfit you choose of course.

All I can say is I've been using Wright Tech since I joined this forum in 2011 and have never been disappointed (and there are a few others on here who have too). He works on other makes but Mercs are his forte.

Indeed I started using them "blind", albeit with recommendations from here similarly, with a prospective E55K purchase back in 2011 and Andy checked the car out for me. I got a very thorough and accurate report and was able to negotiate the findings with the trader.

In that time I think there has been the odd problem perhaps two or three times but for me, it's how the vendor deals with it and Andy is an honest chap who will correct anything in such circumstances.

For the most part, I've always been very happy with every aspect of the service so I happily recommend them.

Take it to a proper Mercedes Independent with a multiple bay operation. You'll get access to Mercedes trained engineers at half the price. This is not the same as a generalist Independent 2 man operation specialising in "German cars."

PCS in Horndean know their stuff. They may seem a distance away, but it's not THAT far away in travel time, which is why they have so many London clients. They also offer the (free) use of a loan car.

I've always driven away from there with a clear impression that they knew what they were doing and "got things fixed."

+1 for Wright tech. Been using them for 3 years for both my MB and never any issues.

Thanks for reply. Just so I'm clear, are you saying that Wright Tec are general specialists or were you referring to the mechanics I'd been using?

I would guess the mechanics you've been using as Andy is ex-Mercedes and is able to update the Mercedes ESS when he services your vehicle.

Usually only proper Mercedes independents can do that.

Apologies for the uncertainty - I'm just saying that whoever you use, try to use an outfit that specialise ONLY in Mercedes, preferably with more than one bay / more than one qualified MB Engineer. There are plenty around.

I can't comment on Wright - haven't used them - I'm just making the general point.
