Hello, an idiot has just scraped the back of my Mercedes (silver s320). Their insurers are willing to pay but does anyone know of a good garage near Harrow to do this?

The insurers have suggested Abbey coachworks but they don't appear to get many good comments on this forum. Has anyone used Nair Autos (formally Mercstar) or recommend anyone else?

If their insurance are paying, it may be worth to get a dealership to get a quote...

IIRC, getting a respray from a non MB approved garage will affect your 30-year rust warranty...

Thanks. Is an MB approved garage only done through the dealership? Sorry for the noobie question

From my understanding, most dealers don't have a paint-shop "in house". As such, the painting is outsourced to a third party who is "MB Approved".

If you call your local dealership, they'll be able to advise... (alternatively someone may be around soon who can answer... friday afternoons are a little slow... :p)

I would push for an MB approved garage, otherwise your car will not be returned to "it's previous condition" as if it then rusts, MB won't be willing to fix it for you without a substantial contribution on your part...

Abbey experiences not good. MB watford use them, mb colindale use M & A coachworks (okay). Nair dont do bodywork as far as i know, I use them for servicing. Check insuramce bodyshop list for DWS Bodyworks in Hendon. They worked on my old car and more than guarantee work for life inc corrosion, very happy with quality too.

Andy at Tony Fowkes in Park Royal. They have done a number of jobs for me and have been extremely helpful, competent etc. Usual disclaimer, friend of brother in law, but I wouldn't recommend them on that basis.
