Any ideas who are doing the best deal at the moment for new members AA,RAC,GREEN FLAG etc....my previous Ins company included a breakdown service but not this one!...any advice appreciated..thanks.

In my experience you really can't beat the AA or RAC.
I've tried others and keep coming back to one or t'other of these guys, usually the AA.

:)

Touch wood. I've never been a member of any. So far would not have needed them either.

I've never needed recovery either , but am currently insured with RAC which includes roadside assistance .

BTW AA will not recover your car if immobile as a result of a crash , they only recover BREAKDOWNS . Many other organisations will recover your car following a crash . Many people only discover this too late .

check with your bank - we get full (joint membership) RAC cover as one of the perks (along with mobile phone insurance and a few other things) on our Barclays account which costs us £14 a month

Are you sure? They recovered me when I wrapped a Clio V6 around a lampost and several meters of central reservation :dk:

Yes , it is in their terms & conditions . You must have been lucky , or maybe it was a while ago and policy was different . I've read many times tales from people who only found this when it came to the crunch .

Could be right, it was in 2002, I must admit I`ve not read the small print since so don`t know if they`ve now changed it :)

From an online AA policy document

"No recovery (including a local tow) is available following an accident. We can arrange, but will not pay for, such a recovery."

Fair do`s, must have changed then, I definitely didn`t get billed, but was 7 years ago (nearly to the day funnily enough \0

Thanks folks..was'nt sure if MB had their own recovery/breakdown company....which you could link up to..but no doubt it would be another arm & leg job!

Agree with Andy K; check with your bank. I have a Lloyds Gold account which includes free AA cover.
Only used them once when I locked my keys in the car.

I.C. Breakdown...Gone for this one...Gold cover looks unbeatable value...thanks again everyone!

Exactly same as me £69 per year unbeatable and covers everything, never had a problem used them twice, once in the remote part of Scotland on the way to Cambeltown and once just outside manheim in Germany. First class turnout < 40 mins on both occasions.

Can't fault them :thumb: Never checked if they will recover after accidents though, must check the policy.

Yes MB do have their own service; Mobilo.

Free for first 3 yrs of cars life & therafter, the charge is to have the car regularly serviced at a MB dealer & is included in the servicing cost

MB emergency assistance is also available to drivers of older M-B vehicles , built before Mobilo was introduced , on a chargeable basis .

Adding to posts above, I have never needed to rely on a recovery service to remove a stranded vehicle as my insurance company have responded very quickly with trucks to remove the fallen heroes.

If you drive an MB, then WHY do you need a breakdown service? :)
