A class
Hey all just joined the group and new to this but keen to learn
I have a A Class and when I put the alarm on the indicator lamp (the passenger indicator lamp) starts flashing. I know the alarm works and the interior motion sensor works as have tested both.
What's not working is the red LED on dash by the air vents which clears the windscreen (hope that makes sense? This is what used to flash when i put the alarm on previously, i could see it flashing from 20ft and acted as a deterent to thieves showing car is alarmed.

Any ideas what the problem could be ?

It's broken?:D

Seriously, welcome to the Forum.

Does the alarm still sound if you open a door etc if it is set?

LED bulbs do fail, what model of A-class is it, W168, 169, W176, etc?

Thanks for replying
Yes alarm still sounds if I open a door once set. It's a A 200 D hatchback 2016.
I didn't understand the other bit 🤔

"Other bit"? Do you mean the W168,169 etc?

Mercedes give their vehicles specific model names and numbers, see here : Mercedes-Benz A-Class - Wikipedia

Do you have a Mercedes specialist that looks after the car for you? A quick diagnostic with a Star system (Mercedes specific computer) should find the fault.

Got it i have W176.
I normally take it to the dealer...can't take on the expenses what with covid at the moment.

I was explaining to the local garage and he asked me to bring it in tomorrow. I was trying to work out if it's an expensive job. The car was serviced in August and anything highlighted i had repaired.

You need Mercedes specific expertise sometimes and a Star system to diagnose faults properly. No need to take to a main dealer.

Try here: About - Wayne Gates Mercedes-Benz Servicing

He is a highly respected Mercedes Independent Specialist and will be far cheaper than the Main dealer.

Must admit I thought the flashing red LED on the dash went out of fashion decades ago. In Halfords etc. you used to be able to buy just the LED to make it look like your car had an alarm when it didn't! Alarms & immobilisers are standard fit on just about everything these days.

Perhaps our C Class has this though and I've never noticed :D

Thanks i don't know many specialist garages in London and feel they take advantage of a lady who doesn't know anything. I will try these guys, it's good to have a recommendation 😀

You'll be fine with Terry Gates. I live near Beaconsfield, and have taken all my Mercedes there since my first in 2013.

Oh wow that is good to hear. Will give them a call tomorrow. I don't know much about cars but I do know when something has stopped working 👍
