A little bit puzzled, but maybe someone here can enlighten me:

Registration Document says my C220d is a "Type 204".
VIN decoder says it is a W205.
Salesman has been back to "Workshop Control", who confirm it as a W205.
Is this a meaningful discrepancy ?? and should I do anything about it ??
Just wondering about when it comes to reselling in a few years' time ...
Grateful for your expertise ! best wishes, Zena

In which box (i.e. reference number) does the V5C have “Type. 204’?

And don’t worry about it: it passes the duck test.

The VIN was stamped at the factory by the people who built the car.

The V5C was generated by computer operators in Swansea.

On the balance of probabilities, I would say the VIN has correct model designation :)

Phil, Graeme & Markjay: Thanks for replying ... Phil it's Point "D.2: Type 204". And yes, other than that it passes the duck test really well and I'm really enjoying driving it, best wishes, Zena

Phil it's Point "D.2: Type 204".
FWIW, D.2 on my W177's V5C says "Type F2A" so on that basis I see no reason why it should match the VIN model code.
