Hi, the black strip made of metal painted shiny black on the front door at the window edge on the w210 is rusty so I bought another new one, how do you get it on as it appears you have to remove the black stip that runs along the window to get the new part inserted sufficiently to then allow sliding the trim rearward to fit in the grooves . Any assistance welcome as I have tried and I am only damaging the new trim part due the other black anodised window trim being in the way .
Hope u know what I mean .

Not sure if yours is the same as mine, but I used an old wooden clothes peg and levered it off

The mouilding that runs along the top off the door will pry off using a wooden or plastic leaver , a screw driver can be used but this could damage the door . The moulding along the window edge can be removed by unscrewing the 2 edge screws then sliding it foward

Ok thanks shorty,I will take another look but I thought that it was rivoted in place ,maybe not .If you have removed this before then I take your word for it .
Let u know how I get on.

It should be similar to a W202, drop the window all the way down and work from the inside of the open door, on the side closest to the mirror first, very easy to damage paint levering from the outside.
