Removal of Switches - heated seats, washers etc

Hi there, I have asked this question on another MB forum, and had two conflicting views on the way to remove the switches that are above the climate control. I can remove the climate control but I cant see how to remove the 6 switches above.

Its a CLK320 CAB (w208)

I should imagine the wood trim panel has to come out first.

Yeh, you could be right, but right now I am not sure what way to attack it as I can be impatient when armed with a screwdriver lol

Only guessing but it looks like there are two slots in the air con controls for removel tools.
I think if you removed that things may become clearer.

Oh.. and look at them great big rubber pedals; time for the standard MB club aluminium pedal mod.

I have removed the Climate control, but there seems to be a box section where it comes out, similar to what you would see when you pull a radio, so it reveals nothing on the switch array. You cant even get your fingers to wrap around the box to feel anything of the switches

The switches I believe are part of a switch pack, remove the AC unit and stereo and look for screws in the edges of their apertures.
The panel has to be removed to gain access to the rear to remove the said switches.
This area is assembled in a similar way too a w202, and I think there is a How to somewhere on installing COMMAND in one, which involves the complete removal of this panel.

They are tricky to get out as they are not screwed in, just pushed in. Be VERY careful as the trim is easy to damage, but you need to use plastic wedges and prise it out.

just to close off this thread.

the climate control comes out with the keys, then the trim needs to be prised UP from the bottom edge, then it pulls out revealing the switches.

LOL, no I finished the lighting project a while back, but just backtracked over some threads I had created on the subject and put closure to them, it may be of some use to someone, one day
