Car
A Class
Hi,

I've recently bought a Becker Map Pilot. When I put the cartridge into the vehicle I didn't realise the little plastic key to remove the Becker wasn't in my car. Subsequently I am not able to remove my device. Does anyone know any tricks to removing the device without the key/button thing?

Regards,
Joe

Same problem here

Fiddled about with a blade, with no success
Where should I be applying pressure

Can I buy the correct key anywhere on-line
or MB dealer?

Feeler Gauge did the trick
One side at a time, listening for the click.

Taped over the key ways, so wont need a key

In your thumbnail, you can see the rectangular protrusion in the middle of the side face. There are two, one on the opposite face.
They are the spring loaded keys which lock into the module and are released by the plastic key.
Use a feeler gauge to slide between the module and bracket along both sides simultaneously. You hear the click and hey presto out she slides.

Apologies to anyone who thinks this forms some sort of anti-theft mechanism.
Having already broken into my Mercedes I would rather the scumbag take the £150 thing nice and clean, than do £1000 worth of damage prising it out with a screwdriver.

Then tape over the key ways, to save fiddling next time you want to remove it.

Hello guys, I’m new here. Luca from Italy! I bought an used Class A W176 and I’d like to renew all the maps (2011 right now).
I don’t have that plastic key and with feeler gauge I wasn’t able to remove. Can anybody help me?

There is a key, i have always just used a small screwdriver to remove it

where do you find that key? Actually it’s like three days that I’m studying on it.
Thanks

Maybe i should have put a couple of question marks after “there is a key” sorry

Borrow one from a friend? Becker might supply them & I did a quick Google and there are some on Ebay!

Managed to extract mine with a couple of butter knives down each side. The tool is £15 on Ebay

on my MO13 the far end of tabs is 450 mm in from the front on the “top“ edge (it sits upside down in the cradle)

I presume the proper plastic tool that goes in the slot over the Becker unit presses some tabs at the back that release the two side tabs?

On my W204, pushing the device inward caused it to jump-out, no key needed. I am guessing it's different on the B-Class?

I get the impression the key might push it out. At £15 a pop, I guess I’ll never know. Butter knife and paring knife combo also work.
So my Becker SD stick arrived. The supplier’s instructions talk about using the Becker pc app with the unit connected up via USB. It said to plug in the stick - I tried the Becker and the PC as it didn’t say which.
Either way I could not see a way to make anything happen via the app, so I’ve put the SD in the Becker’s slot and that seems to have updated it to Q2 2019.
Or have I missed something?
Having said all that, the map still shows my Mercedes specialist at his old location and I’ve going to him for at least 3 years in the new place.

So for days, i’ve been trying to get this becker map pilot out. I’ve tried feeler gauges, butter knives, popsicle sticks, but i still can’t get it out. I ordered a key, but i want it removed now. For those who have got it out, can you demonstrate, or walk me step by step to remove it. Any visual aides would be very helpful

Which model of car for you have?

On my W204 facelift (C-Class 2010-2014), you needed to push it in slightly, and it then popped-out.
