Removing centre dash air vent post-facelift W124

The passenger airbag is held in by one long vertical bolt from under the unit. You will see a hole if you look (its quite deep so you will need an extension.) you will also have to disconnect the airbag connection under the front passenger foot plate if you wish to remove the bag completely. there's this on an earlier model without passenger airbag also PeachPartsWiki: Dashboard Replacement

It's a 10mm nut to remove the airbag, and there is usually enough cable to allow it to be withdrawn enough to access the screw without disconnecting.

There are 2 metal clips in the vent, I imagine you have seen these already, and a 4mm allen bolt to attach it to the vent in the centre.

removing centre vent w124 cabrio

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the procedure for removing the centre vent in a w124 cabrio (1996 with airbag)? My centre vent will not close and blows all the time when the ventilation is on.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Michael
