I heard a 63 cold start in an underground car park once, it's sudden bark into life was brutal, it sounded awesome.
Have you tried having someone else start the car while you're in the house so you can actually hear how it's affecting neighbours?
Yeah, I got the misses to go start it cold one evening and I stood in the other side of the house in our bedroom and you could definitely here it. Unfortunately I go down to the office at about 4.30am once a week to avoid traffic - at the moment I take the handbrake off, start it up and put it straight into drive (calm the cold start) and just let it roll down the road with minimum revs and leave it for a minute outside the village to warm and then drive steady until engine temp is +80
I did post a note to 5-6 of my closest neighbours saying 'sorry for the noise the battery controlling my exhaust values is flat and will be change this week...' Unfortunately as I said it's not made any difference (I'm planning on visiting MSL to see if they can see if the valves are working) - only complaint I've had is from a neighbour over the road saying she appreciated the note but could I take my girlfriends car down to work until mine is 'fixed'
