Good afternoon.

I need to remove the fan from my 320CDI (OM613) engine.

It's a tight squeeze and other than using a long allen key, I don't have anything small enough to fit into the aperture.

Can anyone recommend a slim ratchet that will accept screwdrive bits so I can avoid scraping my knuckles?

TIA.

Paul.

Personally, I ground down a cheap(ish) 8mm allen key and fitted a foot or so of central heating tube (to the longer end) to make a suitable tool - there just wasnt room to do much else without moving the rad. Upon retorquing the copper tube starts to bend at about the right point too. A magnetic probe is useful to have on hand too in case you drop the bolt! The pulley locking tool was self made from a length of 4 mm diam. (IIRC) steel rod too . Good luck

Many thanks for the advice and tips guys. :thumb:

I went out this afternoon and bought one of these from Machine Mart.

It's a dinky little tool, inexpensive and perfect for the job. :bannana:

Thanks again.

Paul.
