How do you remove the front door cards in a 126?

I have a nasty creaking coming from the passenger side door that needs fixing before it sends me round the bend:wallbash:

I had a go today but failed miserably. I undid the door handle screws x3, the door latch screw, removed the buttons and cover from the lecky seat unit but can't see how to lift it up past the electric seat unit it's self!? And how does it attach at the top of the door where it meets the window?

Thanks,

Stu

Stu , this is difficult to explain in words !

For the little handle you open the door with , you pry out the plastic behind to reveal a screw - just like in a 190 . With the seat switch buttons removed , the plastic piece prys out from the front end - put in a very sharp knife ( I use the smallest blade on my Swiss Army Knife ) and take care not to damage either surface . The piece of padded trim that goes up the edge of the window next to the B pillar comes out with two ( or three ) screws through the window frame ( note which goes where - different lengths ) . The top of the card hooks into the rubber at the base of the window - everything pulls up to come out and is a proper pain to get back in .

I'll bet your creak is from the bottom edge. I tried all sorts of things with little improvement. Ended up buying those stainless sill plates, eliminated it completely. Its SO annoying isnt it, drove me nutty too!

It does indeed seem to emanate from the bottom edge of the door and it is indeed highly annoying!!!

So it could be from the sill capping? Il remove it tomorrow to see if that helps. At least i'l know if thats the cause or not.

Many thanks for the help and tips folks:thumb:

You were spot on mate. i took the cover off and the creak disappeared!!

I tried lubing it and putting it back on but no joy, still creaking like mad.

I tried every type of lubing and refitting and cleaning and everything i could think of. No improvement whatsoever. But those stainless steel trims that cover that area were the only thing that fixed it. They cost about £80 a set of four i think.

Creaking door sill cover cured !!:thumb:

I gave the interior of the car a clean this morning which included giving the leather a clean and feed and cleaning all the trim bits and door jams including the door sill covers.

Since doing so the sill cover has stopped creaking:bannana:

Very happy am I:cool:
