Hi, my little boy has managed to post a credit card and some coins into the CD/DVD slot on my 2004 W211 Comand so it won't accept a disc. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to get them out?

Thanks,
JC.

Park front first up a VERY steep hill (1 in 3 might do it) and give the unit some encouraging, yet not too enthusiastic taps with the offenders head.
Failing that try hard tapping with your finger tips.
(on the COMAND unit, not his head).
Failing that, removal of the COMAND unit and shaking the stuff out.

BTW.............Welcome to the forum.

may be worth a trip MB with such a new car COMAND would be very expensive to replace .

If it comes to replacement is this something which could be claimed on the car insurance for?

I've previously rescued stuck DVD's (because my stepson forced a second in on top of the first) from a side loading player with a pair of nail tweezers. Yours would be harder unless you can see offending objects. I suspect that removal will at least require some dismantling.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the first!
Is there a quick and easy way to take the unit out for a 'shake'?

Thanks,
JC.

Not really. I wouldnt try to do it on my car. Find a local car HI-FI/COMAND specialist and let them have a go.
I dare say it would be a problem they have encountered many times before and maybe they might have an easy solution.
Also, read this................

However, I would proceed with extreme caution if you try any of these ideas.

Kids !! Dont you just love em, My nipper when he was about 2 yrs old used to like top "post" things , car keys went on the video along with toast etc etc and i spent a few hours wiring a nice new stereo into my van and the little toad posted my entire change collection into the front !! Luckily it was eay to remove the unit and strip it down

Comand isnt straightforward at all though :(

Easy. Pop the comand out and remove the top carefully. You can then retrieve the items.

Thanks to Aka$h and Alfie your your help! I was actually surprised at how easy it is to remove the Comand head unit.

The drive had tried to 'load' the credit card, which made for an interesting extraction! Fortunately no damage done, and everything is now working as it should.

Cheers,
JC.
