Can anyone suggest a straightforward way of removing very tight plug leads? Those on my 190E are buried in the cylinder head where they connect to the plug and seem to be impossible to remove simply by pulling the rubber covered shroud around the plug insulater. I have removed them by gripping small metal projections on the side of the shroud with long-nosed pliers and pulling, but even this can be a skin-removing exercise. There must be a simpler way !!

Hi John,

First of all - welcome to the forums!
You will find lots of help and friendly people here!
I know it might not sound like much help, but there is a specific plug lead removing tool that grips the leads and makes removing them a doddle! I am sure somebody will have some details!

Cheers,

Will

There is a special tool available, it also fits Ford, VW, Audi, Smart etc. I got mine from VW, part number T10029 'Tool - Connector' it was around £20 which is a lot for a piece of metal but cheaper than damaging your leads.

you can also get at them with a pair of needle nosed pliers.

Get a grip on the seam which runs down either side of the metal casing and pull - they come off ever so easily :)
