my friend has bought a set of lexus lights for his megane they fit no problems but on the lights there is a 6 pin plug but the car has 8 pin plug on loom would anybody know can a adapter be bought and where from or is he going have to cut and join the wires
any help would be helpful as i will probably have to do the electrics

No idea. But I had to sit down and slowly repeat the following in order to take the full horror in.

1999......

Megane......

Lexus lights....

oh i know satch i can not stand anything french (can't trust any body who eats snails)

I think it's more the potential French/Japanese combo that's causing consternation rather than the raw ingredients...

yes grober that's the ones the joining plug on the loom has a 8 pin plug but the lexus lights have a 6 pin plug

Are you sure they sent him the correct version since there seem to differences between the 3 and 5 door versions and pre /post 2003 cars? Did the units not come with any fitting instructions? They certainly seem to imply that they should be a direct swap. I think I would give the supplier a call/ E-mail to see if there's a simple explanation.

Just do your friend a favour and tell him they cannot be fitted..

its all going to depend on the manufacturer of the lights - its impossible to know if an adaptor is available but the light manufactuer should be able to tell you.

alternatively, figure out what wires are what with a meter and then make your own correct plug.....

are the number of bulbs that the new lights have identical to the old lights?

the fella saved me the hassle and got another mate to join the wires he didn't want to pay for the phone call to the manufacturers and i wasn't phoning the premium rate number for him so thanks to every one for the help and advice
