Evening all

This afternoon I did my wife's ML (X reg W163 320) brakes and I have notices front caliper has broken seal in 2 places plus I was unble to push it all the way in while installing new pads.
I figured I would fix using repair kit: A163 420 02 83 and my question is: are they worth considering? Are those are easy to reman? Is there anything I need to think of while doing it? Or should I look for used on new unit as I might expect some problems?

Caliper still works but fine. Slides are OK and it is not causing any problems with breaking.I just want to do it before it gets to "frozen" stage. I should mention that caliper is very rusty. Kind a like that one on ebay:

I've refurbished many calipers on various makes in the past using repair kits. Only issue I have come across is when the piston is excessively pitted and causes wear on new seal.

I have also used a local company in Worcester called Bigred to professionally refurbish calipers. They shot blast the casing and powder coast whilst replacing the internals including new pistons.

As per EPC that kit should come with new piston. (???) Ot would make it nice :). Does £28.60 sound like seals with piston?

Another potential issue is when the bore is pitted and in need of honing.

I would generally prefer to use a caliper that was refurbished by a reputable firm.

I would doubt at that price it includes a new piston. Very much like bearings all pistons are set sizes and can be purchased separately.
