I've put off doing this job for the last 6 months but it was much easier than I expected to be ….. took less than a hour!

The left hand side catch to fold the rear seats broke ages ago and I’d been looking for a replacement on Ebay as they are £360 from the main dealer.

Earlier this year I bough a complete S211 interior from a fellow forum member. I needed a number of trim bits and pieces to replace a minor damage caused by 12 years of family life and 210,000 miles in the wagon.

Thought I’d post this up as a how-to because it’s an easy job to undertake although it looks bit daunting.

I only remembered to take the pictures half-way through the job so I hope they it's clear enough.

No need to remove the rear seat as you can access the working area by folding the seat back and forth as needed.
  1. Remove boot area load cover.
  2. Remove 2 star bolts that hold load cover to rear of seat marked 1 (Mine were damaged so I was replacing these as well).
  3. Remove plastic cover around catch marked 2. The cover is a press fit.

  4. Pull back rear of seat carpet - this just press fits into the channel around the seat back as shown marked 3.

  5. Carefully unhook seat cover from channel around the seat back just in the in the area as shown marked 4.

  7. Carefully remove the plastic cover trim from around the seat catch marked 6. Note you will need top these off the seat catch by moving it away from the foam padding. Unclip the two rear tabs first. The front tap fits through the seat cover so be careful not to damage the cover or this tab.

  8. Remove the wire from the connector on the boot of the seat catch marked 7 and pull catch away.

  9. Refit using instructions in reverse.
