Decided to replace my NTG2 Comand screen as the LCD has started to go at one edge. Pretty straight forward and took me less than an hour and cost £40 so to help others and save you money I did a quick vid:

End result was better than I thought, the screen is really bright and colours are stronger. I had thought of upgrading the stereo but as I had already modified it to play USB, AUX, DAB, Bluetooth Music Streaming and Phone, I decided to keep things standard looking and just replace the screen instead.

Hope this helps others!

Well done very clear video it looked very easy suspect plenty of owners will replace the screen now.

The maps update on NTG2.5 and NTG4.5 can be done while the car is being driven normally (though obviously Navigation won't be available). If you have completed your journey before the update is finished, just park-up and leave the car, the update process will resume automatically on your next journey, and so on until the update is done. I have done the above many times on NTG2.5 (DVDs) and on NTG4.5 (USB Flash Drive), I have not had the opportunity to try it on NTG4 but I assume it will behave in a similar way.

Good job, we do quite a few.

BTW, thats not NTG2. Thats a SL NTG1 unit. Being a SL (or a CL or a S class of that era) the unit its made by Siemens (and not the Becker unit used in most of the rest of the NTG1 range (E/CLS/etc))

Cheers
