So, replaced the knackered water pump today, left the engine run for a few mins whilst topping up the fluids as it bled itself. All good.

3 miles down the road (after filling up fuel) the engine light comes on. Nothing unusal felt, heard or seen. Temps good etc, oil level fine etc.

Is this a co-incidence, or might I have done something wrong? What could go wrong, it was only a blummin' pump change!:(

Did you disconnect anything electrical to change the pump?
Maybe an air lock causing a sensor to kick in?

Hmmm, there was one thing I disconnected, I'll double check that.

I understood that the system bled itself? I may try 'burping' it tomorrow by squeezing a few hoses and see what happens.

Not sure what car you have but iirc if fuel cap left off can cause lamp to come on, fuel vapour recovery.

I've checked the fuel cap, reseated the connector that I removed, and done all I can to check that the water system is free of air, everything seems fine.

Another trip to the Star man. :wallbash:

it will be unrelated. Get the codes read asap!

This was "B2007 - Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor"

Pulled all the vacuum hoses off I could, reseated them. Deleted the error, and after 20 miles or so the engine light is still off.

Maybe a glitch? Maybe a vacuum leak? Hopefully it won't reoccur.

It was a Boston something or other, friend of a friend. Surprisingly easy to do actually.

Light came back on today halfway down the A2.

I still got the 35mpg average I was expecting for the journey, so I'm thinking it isn't a big deal?

Get a Star on it. Other code readers cannot read all the codes properly. There maybe more stored.

Fault codes normally clear themselves after the fault has been rectified.
It usually takes about 20 restarts before it resets.
Failing that, cancel the fault using Star Tech
